Mantra Yoga is considered to be the ‘Lightening Path’ of yoga, in other words, the fastest way to enlightenment. Mantra means mind vibration; chanting a mantra shifts one’s vibration. Chanting in Sanskrit creates a very special vibration as Sanskrit is considered devanagari “the language through which light shines”.
The Gayatri mantra in one of the oldest prayers/mantras in the world and reflects the eternal human yearning for illumination, guidance and enlightenment. There are many translations of it meaning, the one I prefer is:
Earth - Space - Heaven
On my journey towards enlightenment,
May my every thought, my every feeling, my every word and my every action
Be warmed and illuminated by Divine light.
May I be Divinely guided.
