New ER study finds acupuncture to be more effective than morphine in treating acute pain!

A new study published in the American Journal of Emergency Medicine compared 300 people in acute pain in an ER: 150 were in an acupuncture group and 150 in the morphine group. The acupuncture group has a 92% success rate compared to the morphine group with a 78% success rate. Moreover, the acupuncture group experienced a 16 minute average resolution rate while the morphine group averaged a 28 minute resolution rate. The most noticeable difference between the groups was that the morphine group experienced 85 negative side effects: nausea, vomiting, and dizziness while the acupuncture group only had 4 negative side effect. The researchers conclusion was that acupuncture is safer and more effective and should be used more to avoid the adverse side effects that come from drug reactions.
